Aruba Ocean Villas
Aruba · Savaneta
Aruba Ocean Villas began as a restaurant on the water and grew outward from there. It is the work of Osyth Henriquez, a local artist and self-taught designer who oversaw the construction, the landscaping and the interiors herself, and who named each villa after a friend, a family member, or someone who inspired her.
No two are alike. Palapa ceilings, carved wood, stone underfoot, murals across whitewashed walls, a ladder from the deck down into the sea. What she is after, in her own words, is perfect imperfection. It is the opposite of how almost everything else on this island gets built.
It stands in Savaneta, the island's first capital until 1797, and quiet ever since.
